Portrait Drawing and Painting with Jove Wang

This workshop provides concept and approaches to seek the relevance between drawing and painting. You will learn how to creat a unique and impressive portrait from the perspective of composition and design and by looking for the relationship between deconstructive edges and background, thus endowing your art work with spirit and soul.

Schedule

Monday – Friday from 9.00 to 16:00 (9:00am to 4:00pm)
Lunch break from 12:00 to 13:00 (12:00pm to 1:00pm)

  • Afternoon: Jove doing drawing demo with male model

Day 2:

  • Whole day: Students drawing with male model

Day 3:

  • Morning: Jove doing painting demo with female model
  • Afternoon: Students painting with female model

Day 4:

  • Whole day: Students painting with female model

Day 5:

  • Morning: Students painting with the male model
  • Afternoon: Jove doing critique about students' paintings

Jove Wang

Jove Wang was born in Jilin China in 1962. At the tender age of seven, he apprenticed with the master oil painter Gang Gu, subsequently studying at Jilin School of Art for three years and graduating in 1982. He was accepted into the most prestigious art institute of China, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now known as China Academy of Art), and graduated as an honor student in 1988. In 1990 he immigrated to the United States where he soon met with success. Immersing himself in the art study and exploration of old masters, he has established a career that has garnered him national recognition.
