Drawing from the Masters in Charcoal with Travis Wilson

This workshop will be all about studying from the masters in charcoal on newsprint. Master studies are most beneficial for the student if we can get out of the mindset of just "copying" and into the mindset of "interpreting" the masters.

This is not a class where you will mindlessly copy a master, but think critically about lighting, form, rendering, planes, structure anatomy and perspective using the drawing tools that you have learned already and techniques demonstrated by the instructor. This course will be a great opportunity to learn about the process of image making, and higher level concepts in finishing and rendering an image.

A Dean Cornwell illustration will be demonstrated and handouts of masterworks will be provided. Students can choose their own master with instructor approval.
