Bridgman's Anatomy with Travis Wilson

In this workshop we will be breaking down the work of George Bridgman. His drawings have been a staple of artistic anatomy practice, but are often difficult to study because of their cryptic nature and messiness.

We will be drawing Bridgman's drawings in charcoal on newsprint with a focus on cleaning up the chaotic linework and shading for greater clarity. We will also be working from photos of a model in similar poses to apply the knowledge, referencing Jeff Watts' Watts on Bridgman book. Our main goal with this study is to learn not only how to study from Bridgman, but to memorize and stylize anatomy of the human body using Bridgman's principles for more inspirational drawings.

Worksheets will be provided. If you have Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life, please bring it!
